Kundapur: South Western Railway announced that the Bengaluru-Karwar (06211/12) morning train, which was partially cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, will restart on August 16 with new Vistadome compartments.
The service has also been approved by the Konkan Railway.
The Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru train now has Vistadome compartments, which has been a disappointment for travellers from Kundapur and Karwar.
The Kundapura and Uttara Kannada Railway Prayanikara Hitarakshana Samiti has written to Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, requesting that the train’s services be extended up to Karwar.
Karandlaje met with the Union Railway Minister, requesting that the Karwar-Bengaluru day train be resumed. The Minister replied to the request by ordering the train, along with the Vistadome compartments, to start running.
On August 16, a reception for the Vistadome train will be held at the Kundapura Railway Station.
