70- year-old man kills his son-in-law in drunken stupor

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident of murder, a 70-year-old man beat his son-in-law to death in a drunken stupor at Maninalkoor Village, Bantwal.

The deceased has been identified as Ramananda Poojary (52). Ammanna Poojary is the accused.

Reportedly, Ramananda Poojary and his uncle Ammanna Poojary were at loggerheads with each other regarding some family issues since some days. Ramananda who hailed from Bankal, had married Ammanna Poojary’s daughter Mohini. After his marriage, Ramanada started residing in Ammana’s residence in Maninalkoor. Ramanna Poojary and Mohini have three daughters. Their elder daughter got married recently. Other two daughters are working for a garments factory in Moodbidri. And his wife Mohini works as domestic help.

This incident occurred while there was nobody at home. The incident came to light while Ramananda’s wife returned from her work and noticed Ramananda lying in a pool of blood under a coconut tree.

Bantwal Rural Police rushed to the spot and registered the case.
