Adani Wilmar Ltd opens Fortune SuPoshan in Mangalore

Mangalore: Adani Wilmar Limited (AWL), one of India’s largest food FMCG companies, has today announced the launch of its Fortune SuPoshan site with help of Adani Foundation at Mangalore in Karnataka. The Fortune SuPoshan team has implemented steps to effectively execute the project in this region.

  • Fortune SuPoshan aims to improve the nutritional status of 0-5 age children, adolescent girls and women in reproductive age
  • Fortune SuPoshan is an initiative of Adani Wilmar Ltd., implemented by the Adani Foundation

The project was launched in the presence of district and block level health & ICDS authorities, Anganwadi workers and the village volunteers- SuPoshan Sanginis, along with AWL plant administration.

The company has already launched the project recently at Haldia in West Bengal and Nimrani in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from Mangalore, plans are afoot to launch the project at additional three new sites, viz., Alwar in Rajasthan, Medadraj in Gujarat and Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh.

Talking about the initiative, Angshu Mallick, CEO and Managing Director of Adani Wilmar Ltd. said, “Together with our partners, we are expanding our efforts to improve the health and nutrition status of acutely malnourished children, adolescent girls as well as pregnant and lactating mothers. The Fortune SuPoshan Project has been close to our heart, and we have been reaching out to around 16 lakh beneficiaries at various locations in the country. This is our commitment to making India a healthy growing nation for generations to come.”

Sharing her views about launching the project at new sites, Dr Priti Adani, Chairperson of Adani Foundation said, “Fortune SuPoshan is a multi-stakeholder programme with a strong component of community-based nutrition management, which is supporting the Central Government’s Poshan Abhiyaan. Here, women are both the agents of change as well as the recipients of benefits. It gives me immense pleasure to see the programmes being launched at six new sites with the objective of spreading the right knowledge and initiating appropriate actions for creating a healthy nation.”

This unique initiative by Adani Wilmar Limited was launched in 2016 and implemented by Adani Foundation. The Fortune SuPoshan Project continuously aims to expand the programme, taking major strides to help erase the nutritional deficiency footprint in India. The ground-breaking mission against malnutrition and anaemia follows an integrated community-based model. As a part of the program, the company is currently empowering over 260,000 households across 14 locations in India.

About Fortune SuPoshan Project:

Founded in 2016, the Fortune SuPoshan project is a mission against Malnutrition & Anemia. At Adani Wilmar, we decided that by keeping a larger objective in mind i.e. ‘For a Healthy Growing Nation’, we look forward to touching the lives of every Indian, enabling them to live life fully, thereby making India stronger, healthier and more productive. The project is implemented by Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of Adani Group and aims to improve health & nutrition status of children up to 5 years of age group, adolescent girls and women in reproductive age. Fortune SuPoshan touches the four core areas such as health, education, women empowerment and sustainable livelihood. Today, the project is spread across 14 sites in the country and reaches more than 2.6 lakh households through 482 Sanginis across 1065 villages and 139 slums. The project is touching the lives of more than 1 lakh children, 3 lakh adolescent girls and women of reproductive age.
