Passengers bound for Mangaluru found themselves in a state of frustration and inconvenience as an Air India Express flight, originally scheduled to depart from Dammam International Airport at 10:20 pm on Wednesday night, experienced extensive delays lasting over 18 hours. The lack of communication from the airline added to the passengers’ grievances.
The situation escalated when Air India Express informed passengers of the flight’s cancellation around midnight, promising a rescheduled departure on Thursday morning at 11 am. This abrupt change caused significant inconvenience for travelers, many of whom had already been waiting at the airport.
According to reports, passengers faced challenges in arranging accommodations, especially those who had traveled long distances to catch the flight. Allegedly, the airline did not provide any assistance, including arrangements for food or lodging.
To compound the ordeal, passengers allowed to board the flight on Thursday morning were unexpectedly deboarded after half an hour, leading to further delays. As of 3 pm (Saudi time), authorities had not provided updates on the flight status, leaving passengers frustrated.
The lack of responsiveness from Air India Express officials was highlighted by passengers who claimed their inquiries about the prolonged delay went unanswered. This left women, children, senior citizens, and patients waiting without proper provisions for over 18 hours.
The route from Dammam to Mangaluru is popular among individuals from Coastal Karnataka and neighboring Kerala due to the direct flight connection between the two airports. Attempts to reach Air India Express authorities for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. The news will be updated upon receiving an official statement from Air India Express.
