Mangaluru: Three individuals have been detained by the CCB police in the Panambur beach area of the city on charges of possessing ambergris.
The arrested individuals include Jayakar (39) from Saligrama village in Udupi district, Aditya (25) from Sagar taluk in Shivamogga district, and Lohith Kumar Gurappanavar (39) from Shiggaon taluk in Haveri district. They were caught with 900 grams of ambergris, valued at Rs 90 lakh.
The CCB police were alerted to the presence of these three individuals who had ambergris near Panambur beach. Acting on this specific tip-off, the authorities conducted an operation, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects. Ambergris was confiscated from the individuals who were arrested.
This operation is being conducted under the supervision of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
