Mangaluru: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), under its flagship programme “Mission Angel Dust”, in collaboration with Rotary Club Hillside, Mangaluru, organised an Anti-Narcotics programme at Panambur Beach on February 3.

Coast Guard DIG Mangaluru S S Dasila, who was the chief guest on the occasion, in his inaugural address complimented Yenepoya and the Rotary Club Hillside for this path breaking initiative. He was all praise for the students who put up a variety of cultural programmes to drive home the message that narcotics are a strict ‘no’ for all citizens. The cultural extravaganza started with a flash mob by the students of the medical college, which was followed by a street play, mime and skit by students drawn from Nursing, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy colleges.

While Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was represented by Mission Angel Dust CEO and Registrar Dr. Shreekumar Menon, NSS Coordinator Ashwini Shetty, Dr. Shemjaz Arackal, Dr. Gulzar Ahmed and Campus Officer Mahesh Nayak, the Rotary Club Hillside was represented by President Satish B K and Rotarians Umakanth, Dinesh Mallaya, Deepa Rao, Prateeksha, Kiran Kumar, Chetan Mallaya, Geethanand Pai, Ranganath Kini, Srinivas Kini and their families. The highlight was a musical performance by the Yenepoya Band, and songs by Rotarian Umakanth and Prof. Gulzar Ahmed.
