Assault and extortion: CCB police arrest two

Mangaluru: City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two persons who allegedly indulged in assault and extortion, on Saturday, December 29.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Akbar (22) son of Madival, a resident of Savadatti Taluk in Belagavi district and Mohammed Musavir, son of Abdul Kareem, a resident of Shanthibhag in Someshwar village.

According to the police sources, the accused had barged into a building ‘Sahal Student House’ located at Deralakatte in Kotekar village and assaulted Lenin and Vishnu Prakashan on December 22, 2018. Later, they took away mobile phones from their possession. Based on the complaint, a team of police, headed by CCB Inspector Shantharam and sub inspector Shashidhar Shetty had been to Deralakatte and nabbed both accused on Saturday. Though two more were involved in this same case, they are yet to be arrested.

The accused would be produced before the court, police sources said.
