Mangaluru: Taking cognizance of the fraudsters who are trying to loot people in the name of helping Chennai flood victims, the office of the Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner issued a release that no individuals or organizations have been permitted to pool in funds and has urged the public not to entertain any such entities.

“The district administration has not been collecting donation either in kind or cash, as the Tamil Nadu government has announced that it does not need donations from other states. We hereby request the general public not to extend any financial assistance or materials by way of donation for the above cause. People may bring to the notice of the district administration if they come across illegal collection of donations, by calling toll-free number 1077”, the release stated.

It further stated that if individuals from Karnataka have gone missing or need to be evacuated from Chenai, their details need to be furnished to toll free number 1070 – Karnataka State Natural Disasters Monitoring Centre, Bengaluru or by giving a call to 080-22340676.
