Kasaragod: A bison herd is wrecking havoc in various agricultural fields bordering Karnataka in the last three days causing immense loss to agricultural yield and endangering human lives.

The bison herd was spotted destroying full grown paddy belonging to Appukuttan and banana plantations of Gopalakrishna Bhat. The herd was seen roaming freely in Arakkodi, Katukukke, Guthu, Mundaje and surrounding areas.

The residents in adjoining areas are worried as they fear possible attacks endangering their lives, with 6 bison in the herd.

Forest department officials have rushed to the affected area. They feel the bison have intruded into human habitat from nearby reserve forests.
