In collaboration with Father Muller Charitable Institution, the Youth Red Cross and National Service Scheme conducted a blood donation camp alongside a vintage exhibition on Saturday, March 9, at the Milagres College campus.
Addressing the attendees, Dr. Kelvin Peter Pais, the liaison officer at Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, emphasized the significance of blood donation and its vital role in healthcare. He highlighted the necessity of ample blood supply, particularly with the establishment of Father Muller’s Thalassemia center, stressing the ongoing demand for blood to treat patients.
Dr. Kirana Pailoor, Head of the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, provided insights to students on the importance and criteria for blood donation. She underscored the broader impact of blood donation, including its role in helping patients with various medical conditions.
Fr. Michael L Santhumayor, the principal of Milagres College, emphasized the humanitarian mission of blood donation, stating that the act of donating blood can potentially save someone else’s life. He also expressed enthusiasm for the Vintage Exhibition, a new initiative aimed at educating students about culture and traditions, featuring over 1000 artifacts.
Shravya N, NSS programme officer, delivered the welcome speech, and Sahida Anjum, YRC programme officer, extended the vote of thanks. The Vintage Exhibition will be open to visitors from March 9 to 11, providing a unique opportunity to explore and appreciate cultural heritage.
