Mulky: Nearly a fortnight after owner of M Sanjeev Shetty garment showroom in Car Street was targeted by extortionists, another similar incident has been reported from Mulky.
The target this time happens to be a Mulky-based entrepreneur M Nagaraj.
The shoot out, done with the intent of pressuring the business man to dole out money was carried out within the compound of Nagraj’s residence, located near national highway 66 at Mulky on Saturday, December 23 night while he was inside along with his family members.
Reportedly two people had arrived on a bike at around 9pm, while the rider waited outside the house his accomplice entered the compound and shot two rounds, damaging the main door as well as the businessmans car parked in the compound. The fled the scene as neighbours started gathering on hearing the commotion.
It is gathered that Nagraj had receieved calls demanding haftaa or extortion earlier but had not reported the same to the police.
It may be recalled that in Sanjeev Shetty case too, the proprietor had got a call for haftaa some time before the shooting incident according to sources. The shooting is said to have been carried out by Kali Yogisha, an aide of Ravi Poojary
City police commissioner, T R Suresh alongwith deputy commissioner of police, Uma Prashanth, Mulky police inspector, Anantapadmanabha and other personnel visited the spot.
