Sullia: In order to safeguard the interest of people affected by the Kasturirangan Panel Report (KPR), a central team may conduct a survey to reassess the Ecologically Sensitive Areas (ESAs) in western ghats, said Union Minister D V Sadananada Gowda.

Terming the state government irresponsible for not filing objection against the draft proposal of KPR, Gowda addressing media here said, “The state government remaining in ‘state of slumber’ has made the situation worse.”

“The area under ESA is likely to be around 21,000 sq kms whereas neighbouring Kerala by filing objections brought down the affected area from 4700 sq km to mere 800 sq km. The state has to conduct a survey on similar lines setting aside densely populated areas to safeguard villages as the Centre has already released the third draft notification”, opined DVS.

The state government has to respond leaving politics aside failing which a central team will be deputed to conduct a survey to reassess the ESAs mentioned in KPR report to safeguard the interest of villages’, Minister Sadananda Gowda stated.

The state forest minister is busy leveling charges to gain political mileage, when people are losing lives to animal attacks in border areas, Gowda said.

DVS questions CM over absence from GST council meetings

“The state chief minister is evading participation in GST council and Niti Aayog meetings to gain political mileage. Congressmen hoarding black money were most affected by note ban and hence are pointing fingers towards the Centre. Note ban was implemented to remove black money and fake currency and it became inevitable to cleanse the financial system,” claimed DVS.
