Mangaluru: The sit-in protest by BJP legislators from Dakshina Kannada took an unexpected turn as the Chief Secretary retracted his support for the protest. Following this reversal, Nalin Kumar Kateel, the BJP State President, issued a statement. In his statement, he alleged that the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah in the state is engaging in malicious political tactics. Kateel claimed that there is a coordinated effort underway to suppress the rights of the legislators.
Certain statements made by party leaders have caused division and controversy, particularly in incidents that occurred in Moodabidri and Bantawala. Despite officials extending formal invitations in accordance with protocol, the scheduled event at the DC office was ultimately canceled.
Notably, the name of the Rural Development Secretary was omitted from the list, while the District Panchayat speaker and members were mentioned. The involvement of BJP legislators across various domains has sparked extensive discussions. District authorities have expressed their continued trust and appealed for collaboration moving forward. As a result, we are presently retracting the protest. However, if the release order is not received by this evening, we will resume the agitation tomorrow.
