Bengaluru: Inspector General Manoj Vasant Baadkar, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander Coast Guard Region (West) called on Director General of Police, Karnataka Shri Praveen Sood at Bengaluru. 

The Commander was accompanied by Commander Coast Guard Karnataka, Deputy Inspector General PK Mishra, TM. During the meeting, various topics were discussed primarily associated with the joint coordination of the Police and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with special emphasis towards ensuring law and order in Territorial Seas in coordination with Coastal Security Police (CSP). 

The Commander and DGP emphasized the need for having due harmonization amongst Services and towards interception and averting any nefarious activities by Anti National elements (ANEs) along the coastline. In order to ensure collaboration need was envisaged to facilitate the requisite training of Karnataka Police personnel by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The participation of CSP personnel at scheduled joint coastal patrolling and coastal security exercises is a testimony of cordial and professional interaction. The synergy requires further alleviation at the working level to foster joint manship at all steps. 

DGP was briefed on ICG operations overall and in particular off the Karnataka coast. The efficacy of ICG in ensuring coastal security as well as the role of state police machinery in monitoring fishing boat movement through CSP, and Beat Patrol at beaches/fish landing points were covered in the meeting. The Commander reassured ICG’s commitment towards protecting and preserving the maritime interest on the coast of Karnataka.
