Mangaluru: Konkani is a language with little resources, and very few researches have been done on it, said Annie Rajan, Associate Professor at Dhempe College, Goa.
She was speaking at a lecture on ‘Computation Tools for languages’ organised in collaboration with the Konkani Study Chair of Mangaluru University, the Department PG Studies in Konkani of Evening College and the Department of PG Studies in Hindi of the University College Mangaluru, at the Shivarama Karnataka Sabhabhavana on Friday March 19.
She further said that Konkani language needs to be made more internet friendly.
The chief guest, Dr Subhashini Shrivatsa, Principal of Evening College expressed that he was happy as the technical intelligence is helping languages too these days. Dr B Devadasa Pai, Coordinator of the Department PG Studies in Konkani said that there is huge opportunity to research in Konkani. “The days are not far off when the computers can understand the feelings of the literature,” he said.
Dr A Harisha, Principal of University College Mangaluru, Head of Hindi Department Dr Nagarathna N Rao were present among others. Konkani Study Chair Coordinator Dr Jayavantha Nayak welcomed the guests. Coordinator of Department of PG Studies in Hindi, Dr Suma Rodannavar conferred the vote of thanks.
