Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) and Economic and Narcotics Crime Police arrested four college students for peddling a variety of drugs in the city. In the operation, the police seized the banned drugs and ganja, two motorcycles and three mobile phones from their possession on Friday, November 1 evening.
The seized properties are estimated to be worth around Rs 3 lakhs.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kishan Hegde (19) of Carstreet, Habil Ahmed (19) of Falnir, Ananth Kudva (21) of Carstreet and Gopinath Bhandarkar of Attavar.
Sources from police department have informed that the CCB sleuths, along with the help of officials from the Economic and Narcotics Crime Police, raided the suspects at Morgans Gate, where they were found to be in possession of cocaine, charas and ganja. They added that all the four were pursuing an education in reputed educational institutions in the city and indulged in peddling ganja to other students and the general public.
A case has been registered under sections 8 (c), 20 (b), 21, 21 (c) and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act 1985 at the Narcotics and Economic Offences police station.
