DC Sindhu issues SOPs for travellers between DK, Udupi and Kasargod districts

Mangaluru: Even though the movement of daily commuters between the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts is allowed, DK district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has issued some Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the travellers. This development comes after the Udupi district has seen a huge spike in COVID-19 cases of late.

As per the SOPs, daily passes shall be issued only for professionals and students who have to commute between the districts on a daily basis for work or studies. This can be availed only by medical and other professionals, government officials and students.

Those who wish to travel to from the Kasargod district in Kerala to the DK district for the aforementioned purposes must register themselves on for a daily pass. For people travelling from DK to Kasargod, the passes issued by the Kasargod district administration should be presented at the Talapady check post.

In the pass application form, the applicant must clearly mention the origin and destination and the complete work address in DK. The applicant shall upload their Aadhaar Card photo and proof of workplace like clinic registration, letter of employment, work/student ID etc.

On the receipt of such online applications, the Assistant Commissioner, Mangaluru subdivision, will issue a pass which will be valid till June 30, unless it is revoked due to misuse or misrepresentation.

The pass details shall be recorded at the Talapady check post where the commuters shall enter their details, entry and exit time daily. Any person who fails to report their exit from the DK district will be subjected to quarantine by the taluk administration and penal action will be initiated as per the Epidemics Act.

All those who enter the DK district using daily passes will have to undergo a thermal screening at Talapady and only those who are asymptotic will be allowed to enter.

The pass is valid only for travel to and from the workplace and any deviation from this will be penalised.

The SOPs are to be followed until further notice. The travellers are bound by all health advisories issued by the Department of Health, Government of Karnataka.

It is clarified that all the guidelines regarding Sevasindhu registration and quarantine conditions will continue for other categories of travellers coming to DK. This SOP and e-pass system is only for daily passes issued to people who have to travel between districts for work and studies.
