Mangaluru: In a district review meeting, Dakshina Kannada in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai spoke about the developments projects which got a green signal from the state government. Many projects are being worked on in various places of the district including the new DC office, a swimming pool and a sports complex.
The meeting was held at the DC office on Friday, October 14 where Ramanath Rai instructed Dakshina Kannada DC Dr. Jagadeesh to shift to his new office in Padil soon, along with the district administration. Rai said that the new DC office complex in Padil will ease traffic in Statebank area and moreover, it will be easier for the public to travel there without hassles.
The officials in charge of the swimming pool at Yemmekere said that the work will be started soon. A swimming pool of international standards will be built in two phases. The pool and a building will be built over two acres of land with a funding of Rs. 4.99 crore in the first phase. The second phase will take care of the rest of the project which will start on a later date.
Speaking about a plan for a sports complex, Ramanath Rai said, “A 9.11 acre land has been plotted in Benjanapadavu near Bantwal for the construction of a sports complex which will enable sports activities throughout the year. A proposal has been sent to the state government to sanction Rs. 10 crore for the same project.”
“The district administration is to mark eight acres for Karnataka State Cricket Academy in Bondel area. There will be impediments in these projects of course but the officials must take care that the tender process and construction should happen as quickly as possible”, he added.
Another plan to promote traditional wrestling in the district will see ‘Garadi Mane’ in Bengre, Budoli and Kallige areas. An initial investment of five lakh Rupees will be sanctioned to establish each Garadi Mane.
