Drug peddling and robbery case: Mangaluru South police arrested two

Mangaluru: Mangaluru South police arrested two persons in connection to drug peddling and a robbery case and seized a car, scooter, mobile phones, lethal weapons and cash.

The arrested have been identified as Goutham alias Gouthu (28), son of Nagesh, a resident of Akash Bhavan, Kavoor and Loy Vegas (26), son of Leo Vegas, a resident of Mandarabail, Konchady.

Among the accused, Goutham has two pending cases related to assault and murder at Kavoor police station. He was convicted for murder case by the local court. However, he appealed at the High Court and was released on bail. Loy Vegas has seven pending cases pertaining to robbery, attempt to murder and assault at Kavoor, Mangaluru North, Barke and Mangaluru Rural police station.

Based on a credible information of peddling drugs (LSD), a team of police headed by Mangaluru South police station inspector K M Shareef rushed to the spot and found accused were searching for customers for selling LSD. When they were detained for questioning it came to light that the accused had abducted a person named Hasan Shimaq, a resident of Falnir and robbed him off his scooter, mobile phone and cash on December 5.

The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
