Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada Dr K G Jagadeesh has informed that schools and colleges will have the Eid Milad holiday on Monday, December 12 but, holiday for government employees will be on Tuesday, December 13.
A government notification dated December 9 had declared December 13 as holiday. However, after Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi the president of Masjid Zeenath Baksh gave representation to the government, DC Dr K G Jagadeesh who is empowered to declare holidays taking into account the local circumstances declared December 12 as holiday for schools and colleges.
Schools in Udupi will have holiday on December 13 like in other districts of the state.
Milad un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad celebrates the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
