Mangaluru: Former Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal has accused district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai of illegally acquiring a property in the name of his wife.

Addressing a press meet at press club Harikrishna Bantwal alleged that District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai has misused power and flouting all the rules to sanction a land of 3.4 acre at Mani in Bantwal Taluk to his wife.

Releasing documents pertaining to the same, Bantwal said that Rai’s wife had filed application seeking sanction of 2.04-acre plot on Survey Number 20/2 under Akrama Sakrama, but the sanctioned land was 3.4acres and the tittle deed was issued in 2003. Rai has done this by pressurizing the Akrama Sakrama committee by misusing his power, he alleged.

He also said that Ramanath Rai should answer this question and the deputy commissioner should probe into the matter.
