Mangalore : A lady teacher of a Government Girls School at Carstreet in Mangalore was robbed of her gold ornaments by two youth who approached her and introduced themselves as policemen in Carstreet on June 6, morning.
As the teacher was nearing the school gate, a youth approached her and introducing himself as a constable told her that a case has been registered against her in the police station and asked her to meet the inspector who was near the bus stand.
Believing him, the teacher walked towards the bus stand, where there was another person who told her that a case has been registered against her. He also demanded her to hand over her ornaments to him. When the teacher resisted, he spoke in a raised tone and threatened her of arrest.
The confused teacher handed over to the stranger her two bangles and Mangalsutra all weighing around 100 grams. The two men soon vanished from the scene. The teacher who realized that she was cheated, informed her husband who was a teacher in the same school and other colleagues. However, by then the duo had escaped. Bunder police have visited the spot and are conducting investigations.
