Mangaluru: The countdown for one of the most awaited Lok Sabha polls has begun and so have attempts to tamper the voters’ list.
If sources are to be believed then several cases of fake voters have been identified and a case stands registered at Barke police station in this regard by the BJP, which has informed that it will deputy party workers in each and every polling both in DK Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday to make sure proxy and fake voters do not cast their votes.
In the complaint by the BJP to the Barke police it is mentioned that about 100 fake voters have been found in Mannagudda and Alape area of Mangaluru city and most of them have their names enrolled in two voters’ list. The complaint speaks of 3000 or more such voters in Valencia, Kankanady, Bikarnakatte, Alape and Mannagudda.
The BJP has been taking up the issue of fake voters and now in these fresh cases documents too have been procured and the BJP leaders have directly held the Congress guilty of involving into such malpractice. They say that the Congress has been trying to tap on the students from other states and even inmates of various orphanages for this purpose.
The party, talking specifically about a social service organisation, which also runs an orphanage, points out that the centre has shifted to its new premises and yet the names of the inmates are seen in voters’ list of both places.
However, speaking to newskarnataka.com, DC Shashikanth Senthill said that the BJP has brought the matter to the notice of the police at the last minute.
“I am in possession of the evidences provided by the BJP. I will look into the matter and make sure that free and fair elections are held, ” he said.
