In a devastating accident late Friday night in Nanthoor, Mangaluru, a car collided with the road divider, resulting in the immediate fatality of the driver.

The deceased, identified as Shamith Shetty (29), was the grandson of Lalita Sundar, a prominent figure in the BJP known for her leadership. Shamith had been returning home after attending the Daiva Kola program at a friend’s house when the accident occurred.

The collision was so forceful that the car catapulted over the iron guards on the divider, causing severe damage to its front portion. The wreckage was subsequently cleared using an excavator early Saturday morning.

Lalita Sundar, who owns the Ashirwad Complex and a hotel at Thokottu junction, had raised Shamith along with his mother following the untimely death of her son Santhosh. The family had been actively involved in seeking a suitable marriage alliance for Shamith.

Additionally, Lalita Sundar serves as the president of the Koragajja Seva Samiti at Thokottu old check post and has previously made significant contributions to the organization. The BJP leaders have extended their condolences to the bereaved family on Shamith’s sudden demise. He is survived by his mother, sister, and grandmother.
