Mangaluru: A deep-sea fishing boat, “Krishnanandana,” owned by Chethan Salian of Malpe, was intercepted by approximately 25 men off the Bhatkal coast.

The assailants looted an estimated Rs 8 lakhs worth of fish catch, 7500 litres of diesel, and kidnapped seven fishermen.

The incident occurred late night on February 26, following a technical snag in the boat near Bhatkal. The fishermen are reportedly being physically and mentally tortured by the abductors, with their mobile phones switched off.

A complaint has been filed with the Malpe police.
