Mangaluru: A multi-lingual congregation will be conducted on behalf of Vishwa Tuluvere Aayano (World Tulu Speakers meet) 2016 in Badiadka, Kasaragod. The five day Tulu fest will be organized on five different stages and feature a variety of Tulu culture, art, literature and sports programmes under the banner – Tulunaadina Daivaraadhane Ninne-Indu-Naale (Descent of Tulunaadu Past-Present-Future).
The unity of Tulunaadu sans community and language of the people is the main focus of this congregation to be held from December 9 to 13in Badiadka of Kasaragod District in Kerala. Several cultural programmes will be held in Kannada, Malayalam, Konkani, Marathi, Beary, Urdu, Kundagannada, Aregannada, Kodava, Havyaka and Mavali languages apart from Tulu.
The organizers of ‘Vishwa Tuluvere Aayano 2016’ have put into place a variety of programmes which will include honoring of two litterateurs Dr. U P Upadhyaya and Dr. Amrutha Someshwara for their contributions to Tulu literature and congregations with Tulu speaking foreign residents, several Tulu film, theatre and Yakshagaana artistes. National Folk Song fest, agriculture fest and a traditional sports as well as games meet will also be conducted on the same occasion.
As a resident of Abu-Dhabi, Sarvotham Shetty, the President of Tuluvere Aayano Committee mentioned that Tulu and Kannada language speakers bonding in the Gulf countries is strong. “Though this extravaganza is in Kasaragod (60 kilometers south of Mangaluru), the people of the coast who speak different languages can get together in a common place as there are a variety of programmes in line for all,” he added.
The organizers of this event mentioned that Rs 2 crore will be pumped in to ensure a full scale event and a turn up of nearly 3 lakh visitors is expected from all over the globe.
