Mangaluru: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) president and Mangaluru Bishop Rev Fr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated a brand new state-of-the-art ‘Birthing Unit’ and operation theatre (OT) complex at Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) on Friday, November 1.
The 15000 square-foot complex housed at the FMMCH has four OT’s (including a minor procedure room), a special suite room with delivery room and by-stander room, three special care rooms, six delivery suite rooms, a facility for pre-delivery, ultrasound facility, NST, partogram and postoperative recovery rooms. The spacious, ultra-modern birthing unit also includes a fully-fledged baby resuscitation unit with baby warmers and ventilation facilities. There is also a high dependency unit for high-risk patients built like a sub-ICU. Round-the-clock facilities are also available for duty doctors and food and medicine facilities are made available for the patients. The new facility will bring in the joys of parenthood with comfort and care for which the institution stands.
During the programme, Director FMCI, Rev Fr Richard A Coelho welcomed the gathering. Dr Nagaratna G, Prof and HOD dept of OBG presented a memento to the President and Director of FMCI. Administrator FMMCH, Rev. Fr Rudolph DSa briefed the gathering about the facilities available at the renovated Birthing Unit. Administrator FMMC, Rev Fr Ajith Menezes proposed a vote of thanks while Assistant Administrator FMMCH, Rev Fr Nelson Pais compered the event.
