Foreign currency worth Rs 5.4 lakhs seized at M’luru airport

Mangaluru: Customs officials seized foreign currency notes worth Rs 5,48,000 from a passenger who was detained for traveling to Dubai without possessing the proper documents.

While checking the baggage of Dubai-bound passengers boarding a SpiceJet flight, CISF officials came across a suspicious image in the wallet of one Shahul Hamid at the Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday, January 11 at 6.30 am.

From his possession, the authorities confiscated US Dollars (76 × 100), Chinese Yen (1000 × 10 and 110 × 10), Malaysian Ringgit (50 × 1, 10 × 01 and 1 × 3), Turkish Lira (10 × 2).
