Gold worth over Rs 1. 3 Cr seized from two passengers at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs Officers at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Tuesday June 14 seized gold worth Rs. 1.36 Cr from two passengers.

In the first case, over 964 gm of gold worth Rs.49.74 lakh was seized from a passenger arriving from Dubai. According to the official release, the gold in powder form was packed into four oval-shaped objects concealed in his rectum.

Meanwhile, the officers also seized 1.684 kg of gold worth Rs. 86.89 lakh from a female passenger from Dubai.

The gold was hidden in three rectangular-shaped transparent polythene pouches hidden in underwear-type garments and a sanitary pad worn by the female passenger.
