Golden boy Shamshir from Sullia gets felicitated

Sullia: Success can be achieved only when there is dedication and hard work. Athlete Shamshir who has made Sullia proud at the national level is the best example, said MLA S Angara here on November 6.

Angara was presiding over a felicitation ceremony for Shamshir who won gold in Long Jump at the 52nd National Open Athletic Championship held in Chennai. The felicitation ceremony was organised at Jayanagara school ground.

Padmashree Girish Bharadhwaj who felicitated Shamshir, said, “Hardwork is essential to become successful. My colleagues played a vital role in my achievement and I was awarded Padmashree. I need to credit them for their support. But what Shamshir has achieved is because of his own hard work and dedication.”

Shamshir thanked everyone for their support and appreciation.

Padmashree Girish Bharadhwaj was also honoured on the occasion.

Town Panchayat member Janaki Narayana, Ivarnadu Pre-University College Physical Education Teacher Sufi Peraje were the chief guests. Jayanagar school headmaster Theertharam Adkabale, Shamshir Jayanagar Felicitation Committee President Hameed S A, Convenor Shivanath Rao, Sea Food Charitable Trust President Haji G Ibrahim were present on the occasion.

Tejesh B Y rendered the invocation. Praveen welcomed and Rohith proposed a vote of thanks. Surendra Kamath compered.
