Mangaluru: The State Government has approved a grant of Rs. 36 lakh for building a gaushala at Ramakunja village in Kadaba Taluk, informed Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K. V.

Work on a ten-acre area of land will be fenced, and borewells will be drilled in the first phase. In the second phase, cowsheds will be built.

For this purpose, the government has set aside 98.45 acres. Cow shelters will be created in all Taluks of the district with the help of temples under the religious endowment department, he added.

Plans are currently underway at Kukke Subrahmanya temple to build a shelter in a deemed forest area near the shrine without cutting down trees. The shelter will be designed in an eco-friendly manner, and it will be developed further to attract tourists. He went on to say that the money raised by the devotees would be used to run the gaushala.
