Mangaluru: The recent lashing of rains received by Mangaluru late November 6 evening, caused some really troublesome issues for the train services at the Mangaluru Junction Railway Station.

The train traffic signals ceased to function as a result of the heavy rains and the persistent lightning causing a disruption in the train traffic.

The Mangaluru Junction Railway Station comes under the jurisdiction of the Palakkad division of the Southern Railway and the division officials began the restoration of the signalling system to ensure that the train operations resumed as soon as possible.

In order to overcome the troublesome situation, the officials were forced to resort to mechanical or manual measures to help guide the trains to the platforms. Unfortunately, these measures are a lot slower than the preferred electronic systems and hence, delays are expected.

Due to the malfunction of the electronic signalling systems, it is learnt that at least three trains were held up at different places.
