Hindu organizations clarify: Only protests, no bundh on Nov 13

Mangaluru: Jagadish Shenava, calling a press meet at the VHP office in the afternoon, said that traffic will be blocked in the Mangaluru City limits at Pumpwell Circle, Hampankatte Circle, Mulky Junction, Surathkal Junction, Thokkottu, Moodbidri, Bajpe, Gurpur and Kaikamba Junctions.

He urged the people to travel atleast an hour earlier than scheduled to avoid traffic congestions. “We have chosen the 11 am – 12 pm window as there will relatively be lesser traffic. We have asked the police to provide a corridor for ambulance during our protest,” he added.

Mangaluru: The rightwing outfits have clarified that they will not be observing a bundh on Friday, November 13. However, to condemn the state government’s move to celebrate Tipu Jayanti and the death of Kodagu VHP leader Kuttappa, roads will be blocked from 11 am – 12 pm throughout Karnataka in all the district and taluk centres, the leaders of Vishwa Hindu parishad and Bajrang Dal, Jagadish Shenava and Sharan Pumpwell informed.


The leaders of the Hindu organisations from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi twin coastal districts gathered at Sangha Nikethan in city on Wednesday to decide on the preparation for the protest.

“The state government is responsible for all the tension and unrest. All untoward incidents have been taking place due to Siddaramaiah’s vote bank politics. Innocents like Prashant Poojary and Kuttappa were killed owing to the same reason. Siddaramaiah should own moral responsibility and resign,” Sharan Pumpwell demanded.

Public gatherings cancelled, bars to remain closed

Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim convened a high level meeting on Wednesday towards maintaining law and order on November 13 foreseeing trouble.

“No public meetings and gatherings will be held on Friday, November 13. For the gatherings for which permissions were issued, will be cancelled. Liquor trade will be prohibited. All bars and wine shops shall remain closed. All government employees should report to work without fail. The leave approved for November 13 will also stand cancelled,” the DC informed.

Police commissioner S Murugan, superintendent of police S P Sharanappa, ADC Kumar, DCP Shantharaju, MCC commissioner Dr Gopalakrishna and others were present for the meeting.
