Mangaluru: The leaders of Hindu outfits have been urging for the immediate closure of slaughterhouse at Kudroli claiming it is functioning illegally.

Convening a press conference on Saturday, October 27, the Vishwa Hindu Parishath (VHP) Divisional Secretary Sharan Pumpwell said, “As per the information received under the Right To Information (RTI) Act, an aggregate of 350 to 400 cattle are being slaughtered every month at Kudroli slaughterhouse.” Claiming that there was a ban on cow slaughter in Karnataka, he added that as it had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, Hindu leader Vinay L Shetty had filed a complaint at Mangaluru North police Station and demanded the closure of the Kudroli slaughterhouse. “However, police refused to register FIR in this regard. As the MCC Commissioner and other officials concerned have allowed the functioning of the Kudroli slaughterhouse illegally, They should be suspended immediately, until further investigation”, he said.

Meanwhile, Sharan Pumpwell announced that a memorandum urging the immediate closure of slaughterhouse will be submitted to Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and Commissioner of Police T R Suresh Kumar on Monday, October 29. If the government does not take any measures to shut down the slaughterhouse, Hindu organisations will intensify its protest”, he said.

VHP District President Shivanand Mendon, Bajrang Dal divisional convener Bhujang Kulal, other leaders like Praveen Kuttar, Puneeth Attavar among others were present.
