In a landmark event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the extension of services for the second Vande Bharat Express allocated to Kerala. The train, operating between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod, will now extend its route to Mangaluru. The inauguration, scheduled for Tuesday at 9:15 AM, will be conducted online.
Despite its usual non-operation on Tuesdays, a special service from Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram is arranged following the morning inauguration. To celebrate the extension, students will have the opportunity to travel from Mangaluru to Kasaragod on this special Tuesday service, complete with receptions at various stations.
Starting from July 5, the extended Vande Bharat Express will offer daily services, except on Wednesdays. To accommodate passengers with existing bookings, the train will operate daily until July 4. Currently, the train departs from Kasaragod at 7 AM. With the new schedule, it will commence its journey from Mangaluru at 6:25 AM, reaching Thiruvananthapuram by 3:05 PM. The return journey will start at 4:05 PM, arriving in Kasaragod at 11:45 PM and Mangaluru at 12:40 AM. This extension marks a significant milestone in enhancing railway connectivity for the region.
