Mulki: In a shocking incident, a home guard was arrested by the Mulki police in connection with a theft which took place last week at Balkunja.
The arrested is Harish Poojary (42), a home guard who had earlier worked with the tourism department. The police recovered cash, gold jewels and other articles worth Rs 1.38 lakh as well as the scooter used for the theft at a house owned by one Lethisha D’Souza.
Police on patrol duty took Harish into custody after seeing hi move suspiciously in Balkunja. During interrogation, Harish admitted to the theft at Balkunja as well as one more theft case at Bellibettu, Padubidri in 2015.
Harish was produced before court. The investigation by police is on.
