Mangaluru: The issue of disbursing subsidy to arecanut farmers for procuring fibre harvesting poles has been discussed in Assembly on Wednesday February 18.
The subsidy is be released for farmers to acquire the useful farm implement, said Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and MLA T. D. Raju Gowda.
In recent years there is a lack of tree climbers, and this labour problem could be solved only by lightweight harvester pole and also reduction in accidental falls, which really effect the farmers. The farm implement can also be used to spray pesticides and would help farmers to increase their yields too, it was argued in the Assembly.
Speaker Kageri suggested to the Home Minister Araga Jnanedra, who also heads the Arecanut Board, to take a decision in the Cabinet to this effect.
