Mangaluru: The Job Fair, Udyog Mela – 2019, organised by Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Institutions, Mangaluru, was held on Saturday, July 27.
Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil was the chief guest of the occasion. Daisy Kujur, Regional Manager of the State Bank of India was the guest of honour of the programme.
Inaugurating the event, DC Senthil said that it is important for students to gain experience while they are learning so that they can face the corporate world with greater confidence when they pass out of their respective colleges.
Daisy Kujur informed that SBI would work partner with Srinivas University to provide student loans through a single-window system, based at the University. She lauded Srinivas University for their endeavour and said that it is part of SBI’s CSR activity to help youth get jobs wherever they are.
Srinivas University Chancellor CA Raghavendra Rao said that it is important for students to move beyond the boundaries set by the curriculum and informed that that is why their timings at the college have been changed so that students can gain new skills.
Pro-Chancellor of the college Dr. A Srinivas Rao, in his address to the gathering, informed that 90 companies came forward to participate in the job fair. He said that he was overwhelmed with the response for the job fair and said that they had plans to conduct the mela in a bigger way next year.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. P S Aithal said that it is important for the students in the current day and age, to gain skills beyond the curriculum and that is why the job fair was organised. He informed that the job fair was not restricted to the students of the college and other universities, but was open to all youth to take good advantage of the opportunity. He said that it is a good sign that 90 companies are participating in the job fair as it is an indication that there are different types of jobs available.
Other guests included the registrars of evaluation and development, placement officer and the deputy registrar professor Ankith.
