Mangaluru: Justice for Kavya Horata Samithi will hold a protest march on August 9 demanding justice and transparent investigation into the death of Kavyashree. The protest march will start at 10.30 am from Ambedkar Circle and culminate at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here.
Dinkar Shetty, leader of Justice for Kavya Horata Samithi said that various organisations have already raised voice seeking justice for Kavya, a student of Alva’s high school and a national-level badminton player who was found dead in her hostel room on July 20.
“The probe is on, but the police have not been informing about the development in the case. We are demanding a fair and transparent probe into the case where there are all possibilities of probe getting derailed and thus justice being denied,” he said adding that several influential people are standing in support of Alva’s Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva and many are saying that Kavya’s death issue is being raked up to defame Dr Alva.
“Our fight is not against the institution of the man behind the institution. Our fight is for justice,” he said.
Following Kavya’s death, her parents had raised suspicion that their daughter was killed.
