Mangaluru: MLA U. T. Khader who has expressed strong condemnation and condolences over the death of Masood, a youth who was severely assaulted by miscreants at Kalanja in Sullia Taluk.

The family members of the deceased and local leaders were staging a sit-in at Wenlock Hospital in the City demanding that they would not receive the mayyat (dead body) till the District Administration announces compensation. Khader held talks with the Deputy Commissioner, Tahasildar, Police Department officials, and family members of the deceased and local Muslim leaders and requested them to maintain peace and perform the last rites.
He also directed the Police Department to investigate their background and take appropriate action against those who called for negotiations that night in connection with the incident.

Khader has also urged the Government to announce the maximum amount of compensation to the family of the deceased as the Deputy Commissioner has been asked to bear the expenses of the hospital.
