Kasargod: Political vendetta is scripting Kerala’s political history with blood. Kootuparamba of Kannur witnessed yet another gruesome killing on Monday morning and this time that of a CPM party worker.

Mohan (50) from Kooyichal is the victim.

The CPM has held the RSS responsible for the killing and has called for a stir on Tuesday from 6 am to 6 pm condemning the killing. Mohan was working in a toddy shop at Pinarayi when a gang of masked men barged into the shop and hacked him to death and fled the scene in an Omni car. Though Mohan was rushed to Thalassery for treatment, he could not be saved. Police have stepped up security.

This is the seventh murder linked to political vendetta that Kannur region witnessed this year. The hatred between CPM-BJP-Congress has resulted in several murders. An RSS worker named Sujith was killed at Aroli in 2016, thereby setting a prelude to horrific serial of murders. Soon a CPM worker was hacked to death at Pinarayi on May 19 thereby settling the score.

However, this was not to end peacefully and then a BMS party workers was killed in Payyanur, followed by death of RSS worker Deekshith when a crude bomb blasted. On September 4, BJP worker Veneesh was killed by miscreants. The region has witnessed as many as 550 instances of political violence.
