Vidyagiri: Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute, Shivamogga won the overall championship in the Alva’s Media Buzz 2020. They got the first prize in 4 events (Short Film, Video PSA, Street Play, Surprise Event); and second prize in one event (Mad Ad).
Srinivas University, Mangalore won the runners up by winning a total of first prizes in 3 events (Stop Motion,Comic Strip And Film Review).
Jayaprakash Shetty, Editor – Current Affairs, Suvarna News 24X7, and Chief Guest of the valedictory programme said that every individual has a great responsibility in building the nation and protecting the environment. He said that the media has a great network in doing so.
He spoke about the importance of language and that it should not be a barrier for journalists.
Mr Jayaprakash also added, “Budding journalists should come to the field not just as a profession but with love towards the prosperity of society”.
Ashajyothi Rai, Chairperson of Aasare Charitable Trust, Mangalore also presided over as the chief guest and highlighted that the face of media has become very complicated.
She said that media must be unbiased and not affiliate to any particular group and that it should be the voice of the voiceless.
Mrs Ashajyothi also highlighted the importance of sacred groves and the deplorable conditions of lakes, forests and hills. “Media should focus more on climate action and the changing environment. We have but one Earth”, she added.
The valedictory programme was attended by Trustee Vivek Alva, Principal Dr Kurian, Administrative Officer Balakrishna Shetty, Dean of Humanities Sandhya KS, PG Dept. coordinator Srinivasa Pejathaya.
