KIOCL holds two day All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2022

Mangaluru: KIOCL Limited, a Govt. of India Enterprise, conducted a two-day All India Open Fide Rating Rapid Chess Tournament-2022, named “5th Kudremukh Trophy” on Dec 10 and 11, 2022, at Nehru Bhavan, KIOCL Township, Kavoor, Mangalore.

This National Chess Tournament consisted of 184 trophies with cash prizes worth Rs.3,00,000/-. The valedictory ceremony was held at the twilight hour on Dec 11, 2022. This was an opportunity to showcase the creativity of the brilliant aspirants.

The National level Chess Tournament was inaugurated by Hon’ble MLA of Mangalore North Constituency Dr Y.Bharath Shetty on Dec 10 2022 by lighting the Lamp, unveiling the Trophy and moving the Pawns on the Demo Chess Board.

The Tournament was conducted smoothly under the guidance of the International Arbiter BH Vasanth and Deputy Arbiters Sakashath, Umanath Kapu, Smt Saundarya, Babu Poojary, and Nayan Karakal. There were 416 participants from all over India, especially from Goa, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh Karnataka etc., with the youngest player being 4 years and the eldest being 83 years old.

The event was a witness for the International Masters. The proud First prize winner in the Open category was International Master Ritviz Parab. from Goa, Manigandan SS from Tamilnadu was the 1st runner up and Dhanush Ram M from Kamataka was the 2nd runner-up.

KIOCL holds two day All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2022Prizes were distributed for the categories in Open Level, under 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 years in both the male and female categories. Prizes were distributed for Dakshina Kannada player categories and special prizes were distributed for the youngest boys/girls, physically challenged and veteran players.

The Valedictory Ceremony was organised on Dec 11, 2022. The Chief guest of the function was the KIOCL Chairman cum Managing Director T. Saminathan, Director(Finance) Swapan Kumar Gorai, Director(Production and Projects) Bhaskara Reddy KV, General Manager (Production), Chief General Manager (Production and Projects ) GV Kiran, President, KIOCL Chess Tournament Committee and Chief General Manager (Services) Ramakrishna Rao H., were present on the dais. DKCA President Ramesh Khota, was present during the occasion.

The Sr. Manager (HR and Co-ordination) and Chess Tournament Co-ordinator S. Murgesh, briefed the audience on the activities of the tournament.
