Mangalore: In observance of World Heart Day on September 29, aimed at raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases, KMC Hospital at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle is organizing a series of educational and activity-based events throughout September. The month-long campaign aims to inform the public about heart-related illnesses, their causes, symptoms, and risks while promoting healthier heart practices.
Dr. Narasimha Pai, HOD-Cardiology at KMC Hospital, highlighted the global impact of cardiovascular diseases, emphasizing that heart disease is not just a “man’s problem.” Recent data reveals that women in India are also at significant risk, making it essential to prioritize women’s heart health.
As part of the campaign, KMC Hospital will host a 2 km Women On Walk (WoW) for Heart Health on Sunday, September 17, 2023, starting at 6 AM. The walkathon, from KMC Hospital, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle to Marena Sports Complex, Kaprigudda, Attavar, aims to raise awareness about women’s heart health, which often goes neglected.
