Subramanya: Richest temple of Karnataka-Kukke Subrahmanya temple, which had been banking on firewood to cook prasadam meals for devotees, has now moved on and embraced LPG and steam boiler system so as to speed up the cooking process of preparing ‘Bhojana Prasadam’.

Though the kitchen had boiler system in place, the temple used firewood as fuel, which slowed down the cooking process and the devotees had to wait for longer time between meals.

Now, with the kitchen being upgraded at a cost of Rs 61.59 lakh, the problem will be solved. With four LPG boilers and three steam vessels costing of Rs 29.79 lakh having been provided, the cooks can prepare rasam, sambar and payasam for up to 10,000 people at a time. Another eight steam vessels of 50-kg capacity each have been provided to the kitchen. The boiler room has been constructed at a cost of Rs 13.50 lakh. The interiors of the kitchen too are being renovated at a cost of Rs 18.30 lakh. The walls are covered in granite, with new designs. The prasadam meals is served to devotees at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple on every mornings and evenings – except for days of Ekadashi, Krishnashtami, Shivaratri, eclipses and occasions of fasting.
