Mangaluru: A Lamp Lighting Ceremony was conducted at the Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing for the 22nd batch of B Sc (N) and 24th batch of GNM, at 10 AM on December 20 at AJIMS Auditorium, Kuntikana, Mangaluru.
The ceremony was conducted as a tribute to Florence Nightingale-The lady with the Lamp, also signifying the new students’ entry into the practice of the profession of nursing.
Manjusha, Lecturer, LMCN, began the programme by welcoming all the dignitaries. Lecturer Cletta Tressi D’Cunha enlightened the audience on the significance of the day.
The chief guest Prof. Lakshmidevi N, Principal, Global College of Nursing, Bengaluru and Dean, Faculty of Nursing, RGUHS along with Dr. Larissa Martha Sams, Principal, LMCN, garlanded the portrait of Florence Nightingale and lit the lamp and passed on the light of wisdom to the novice nurses.
Shalini Fernandes, Assistant Professor, LMCN, recited the pledge to the nursing students.
Prof. Lakshmidevi N addressed the gathering and said that nursing is one of the best professions in the world and she also highlighted the qualities of a nurse and the professional ethics.
Prashanth Shetty, Vice President, LMET presided over the ceremony. Ashritha P Shetty, Director, LMET. Dr. Theresa Leonilda Mendonca, Vice Principal, LMCN were also present on the occasion.
Raina Roopal Menezes, Lecturer, LMCN proposed a vote of thanks followed by a colorful cultural programmes by the students.
