Mangaluru: State Election Commission should conduct elections for local bodies based on the Supreme Court ruling, said BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday May 11, Kateel said if not under backward classes, we will allow Other Backeard Classes (OBC) to contest under general category. BJP will give more opportunity to OBC community. More than 33% of chances will be given to them under general category, he informed.

Stating that the OBC political reservation will not be an impediment for elections as far as BJP is concerned, Kateel asserted that the party is always ready for any election.

We don’t have the need for Operation Lotus, however we have been taking in people from other parties when they come into our fold accepting our party ideology. In such situation, the opposition from local BJP leaders is natural. But when they join the party, they should work according to party’s ideology, reiterated Kateel.

Kateel said, “Transparent investigation is being undertaken as far as Police Sub-Inspector scam is concerned and we will not tolerate corruption at any cost. Many arrests have been made and action will be taken on many others in the future too, he added.

On Cabinet expansion, Kateel said that is up to the Chief Minister’s discretion. If need be, he will discuss with us before taking any decision, he averred.
