Mangaluru: In a bid to establish peace and prosperity among Indians and hoping for economic, social, political and religious stability, the Mangaluru Catholics had a special prayer service on Sunday, October 16. All the 117 parishes under Mangaluru Catholic Diocese conducted the prayers as a part of their Sunday mass.

The Diocese recently had instructed Mangalorean Catholics to pray for two hours for the people of India. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Mangaluru gave a special sermon at his residence where he addressed the worshipers and prayed on the holy Sunday mass for the prosperity of the country.

“The leaders of the country shall be led by the Lord to guide India to help them provide governance in all fields and ensure safety of the people and prosper at the same time”, the Bishop said. He went to say that successful economy of the country should be striven for by the Government. He also prayed for the success of BRICS Conference held in Goa.

Mangaluru MLA J R Lobo also prayed for India at his Bendoor parish. He said that the peace disturbed by constant terrorist attacks is strongly condemned and the prayer is for keeping India safe from such activities that threaten the country.
