The efforts and hardwork of Mangaloreans here in the city and elsewhere sure has paid off and Mangalore has now created an impression on IT companies that are looking to set up their satellite offices here.
We all know about Tech Mahindra that recently came down with its office to operate here. And now, with just six months down, it looks like there’s a pipeline being constructed with companies from the UK and US with their eyes on the city, surveying the place.
Mangaloreans sure have created an impression on their talent and high standards, with their lower attrition rates as well as operational costs, creating a pattern around the globe that is observed by some of the big giants today.
Added to that is the emotional connect that seniors and IT heads hailing from this place feel when they set up offices here.
Infosys, Mphais and Cognizant already seem to be at home here. Adding this, the city saw the warm welcome of 260 companies (of which 220 were IT companies) last year.
For instance, you have Murali Manohar, the former MD of Infor India who speaks of how the performance of Mangaloreans in various IT companies has led them to see the place as a good zone for their satellite offices today.
Many have visited and made a note of the connectivity and quality of life here, which are just add-ons to these IT companies, in comparison how things are in metro-cities today.
Mangaloreans do have something to be proud of, all thanks to the 23 engineering colleges and with that, the number of educational institutions that have worked hard in bringing about these values besides the training they gave to the students, making them admired over the globe today, bringing this city among the front runners in the IT race.
It looks like we won’t be missing our ice creams and our beaches henceforth, to come down for one only in the holidays. Mangaloreans can settle down here, as they find jobs in their own cities in the future days.
However, the city can’t afford to be laidback, as there is still more to be achieved, to bring it to the standards of Metropolitan cities today. This, if not looked into, can prevent the bigger companies from setting their offices here.
Mangalore, though great in their education and performance at the workplace, humorously shows a lot of laziness when it comes to bettering its roads. A Mangaloream would understand what this means, and the situation seems to be the same even today.
