Mangaluru: The extraction of oil from AV Princess Miral in Ullal sea has been suspended for the time being due to the adverse weather conditions in the sea.
On Tuesday January 17, the diesel was cleared from the ship. On the first day, 30 tonnes of diesel was extracted. So far, a total of 58 tonnes of diesel has been transferred to the barge vessel parked there.
The remaining 160 tonnes of furnace oil is yet to be cleared. But for the last three days, the sea has been rough and it has become difficult to carry out operations.
It is learnt that the oil transfer has been stopped as the situation is predicted to be the same till January 28.
